Position Overview
The Senior Social Media Expert will lead the strategic development and the execution of social media campaigns across platforms, covering the whole scope from community management to paid media. with a strong focus on content ideation and creation.
This role is pivotal in driving social media innovation, enhancing audience engagement, campaign performance and ensuring alignment with the agency’s inclusive and sustainable communication practices.
The Senior Social Media Expert will collaborate closely with the Digital Director, Strategic Planners, Media and Content Experts, Creatives and other team members to create impactful social media strategies that resonate with target audiences and support the agency’s core values. This role also involves actively using and improving the agency’s methodologies for social media strategy development and execution, as well as training junior profiles in campaign implementation, optimization, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Social media strategy development
- Develop comprehensive social media strategies that align with client goals and the agency’s broader communication strategies.
- Identify the most effective social media platforms and content types (e.g., videos, stories, live streams, posts) to achieve campaign objectives.
- Collaborate with content creators within and outside of the agency), designers, and the creative team to develop engaging social media content that drives results across all communication objectives.
- Monitor social media trends, tools, and platforms to stay ahead of industry developments and integrate new approaches into campaigns – from content, consumption and marketing perspectives.
Campaign planning and execution
- Oversee and/or develop the planning and execution of social media campaigns, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet or exceed performance KPIs.
- Utilize data and analytics to optimize social media content and campaigns, making data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Monitor social media trends, tools, and platforms to stay ahead of industry developments and integrate new approaches into paid campaigns.
Performance monitoring and reporting
- Track and analyse social media performance, providing regular reports with actionable insights to optimize current and future campaigns.
- Use social media analytics tools to measure engagement, reach, and ROI, and adjust strategies based on data findings.
- Provide strategic recommendations based on performance data to enhance campaign effectiveness and client satisfaction.
Agency methodology and continuous improvement
- Ensure all social media strategies and outputs adhere to the agency’s established methodologies for content creation and social media strategy.
- Lead efforts to continuously improve social media processes and methodologies, incorporating feedback, industry best practices, and innovative approaches.
- Work with cross-functional teams to standardize social media practices and enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.
Team development
- Train junior profiles in the digital and social media teams, guiding them through campaign implementation, optimization, and reporting.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior team members, fostering a positive culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Conduct regular campaign reviews and provide feedback to junior profiles to ensure high-quality work and alignment with agency standards and client objectives.
New business development
- Contribute to new business efforts by developing social media strategy proposals for pitches and public tenders.
- Present social media strategies to clients, demonstrating their value and impact and building strong client relationships.
- Identify and propose innovative social media opportunities to attract new clients and projects.
Cross-functional collaboration
- Work closely with the Media & Digital Innovation Director, Digital Campaign Manager, and other team members to ensure cohesive strategy development and execution.
- Coordinate with content, creative, and media teams to ensure social media strategies are integrated across all channels.
- Participate in internal strategy sessions, providing insights and recommendations on social media trends and best practices.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in social media strategy and management, preferably within a communication or digital unit/agency.
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms, tools, and best practices, with a proven track record of successful social media campaigns.
- References in editorial approaches, community management content production.
- Certifications are a certain plus.
- Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills, with experience in using data to inform social media strategies.
- Strong training skills with experience mentoring and guiding junior team members.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating social media strategies to clients and internal teams.
- Proven ability to adhere to and improve social media and content creation methodologies.
- Fluent in Dutch and French + English at C2 level.
